Today I opened the latest winter fashion samples from Pyotr Mucha. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with him, he's the Russian fashion designer whose Spring designs became very popular throughout Europe last year. After unpacking his offerings to WW, I'm not so sure he'll receive the same praise.
One of the items was a winter hat with a Fwooper perched on its top. A stuffed Fwooper, I might add. I nearly died when I opened the box and saw a beady little eye staring up at me. I realize the plumage is rather spectacular, but the entire bird?! Ew. No, I did not try it on. It actually reminded me too much of a certain hat with which several of us might be familiar.
Another lovely piece of costuming? A Niffler vest with gold, glittering buttons and an attached brooch. Niffler fur!! As if that might put the real things off, should they catch a shimmer of treasure.
Not all of it was bad, mind. The Graphorn boots were rather fetching, but considering the source, they'll be costly.
It's a good thing Professor Hagrid doesn't keep up with the fashion world; I think he'd be running down the lot of protesters on Diagon with his own placard. He wouldn't be the only one, either, if Mucha's designs catch on, but for the moment, I remain skeptical. Quite frankly, I'd rather see people for animal rights on the streets than the current protest.
